Touching so many lives in a positive way was a gift
The beginning of my journey into Holistic Therapies

I started my journey into Holistic Therapies in 2007 as a bit of a lost soul, suffering with back pain & clinical depression. I quickly settled into my new profession and knew that massage & Holistic studies was what I was made for.

My passion only grew with time. I became armed with a growing set of skills, a support network of colleagues and deepening understanding of myself, I finally took control of both my pain and depression. I now hope that I can use my trade to impact the lives of others the way it has impacted mine.
My Studies
I studied Holistic Therapies at SCD for two years, taking away honors in most of my studies; Swedish body massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Sports Massage, Anatomy & Physiology, on-site Chair Massage and I am also a qualified Baby Massage practitioner & teacher.

I did a final year in Senior College Dun Laoghaire studying Spa Therapies where I qualified in Body techniques such as wraps & scrubs, Stone Massage Therapies, Thai yoga massage & Level 2 Lomilomi massage.
working with people to change pain patterns was my real goal
My Career
By now I was ready to get out into the world, full of passion, excellent training & self belief. I started my first job in Stillorgan while also furthering my studies in Walmer college where I qualified in Skin care & Luxury Facials.

I thoroughly enjoyed the spa environment & implemented all that I had learned over the previous years. I took on any training available & worked closely with Yonka Skin & Body Care range to add to my Body Techniques, skin care & facials as well as earning my Pregnancy Massage certificate.

Touching so many lives in such a positive way was truly incredible. Physically seeing the stress & tensoin melt away and knowing that I had changed their day, their week maybe, was a gift. Working repetitively with people to change pain patterns was my real goal and one I carried out on a daily basis.
From my second job I became further qualified with Aromatherapy Associates & Dr. Murad Skin Care ranges. My techniques were becoming more honed & mixed. My love for sports massage and deep tissue work shone through and I was learning about myself as a therapist. I liked to cross the treatment barriers and mix up the techniques. I found that combining many techniques made for a wonderfully personalized & beneficial treatment. I was making a real difference to people I treated.

Starting out on my own
Several years, thousands of clients & 2 babies later I decided to start my business. I took a Start Your Own Business course provided by the Local Enterprise Office where I was featured as an inspirational Start-up in their newsletter and website (you can have a look here if you like )

I am a registered self employed therapist currently working in the beautiful Greystones Healing Rooms among many highly talented therapists. It's a truly peacful place with wonderful healing energy. Being self employed gives me freedom to work in ways the Spa environment never could. With the luxury of time I can now massage from one end of the hour to the next which allows for a much more relaxed treatment, no corners cut.
The World Massage Champoinship
In May I competed in the first ever World Massage Championship, hosted by the International Massage Association in Copenhagen. It was utterly incredible to be a part of massage history. Never before has such a diverse and passionate group of therapists come together. 82 incredible therapists show cased their techniques, me among them. I massaged for my life.

Although I didn't win overall the amazing complements from my peers was truly uplifting. The wide range of techniques & therapies was inspiring and working alongside the best in the world was an honor.

Another reason I decided to go ahead and compete was because of the devastating loss of my brother. I needed some form of light in my future and the Championship certainly brought that. Being amongst the healers of the world has left my heart a little lighter. Loosing my brother has also opened me up to the world of healing meditation and although it is devastating, has also deepened my compassion.

I will be competing again in 2018.
Into the future
I am carrying on my work, adding more skills to my repertoire. I look forward to refreshing and completing my Lomilomi Massage training in August & will continue on from there with courses and work shops in order to keep my techniques fresh & focused. Teaching massage is also a major goal of mine, passing on a passion to another generation of massage therapists would be an absolute honor & a privilege.

Every day that I massage, every life that I touch, every stress indicator or pain receptor that I reduce, that's what I live for.

I am on this journey of self healing too. I am there with you.
